Hove chimney sweep

One of the nicest places to sweep chimneys in Sussex? I’d say Hove, actually. Now coupled with fashionable Brighton, the towns early days were less auspicious. In 1801 it was home to just 101 people, with a single street and the 12th century St Andrew’s Church.

You meet a wide variety of people being a Hove chimney sweep, but in days gone by the career choice of many was far more colourful!  Early Hove had a reputation as a hotspot for smuggling and an 1818 battle on Hove beach between smugglers and revenue men was won by the smugglers.

Georgian and Victorian developers brought sophisticated architecture to Hove, the large and elegant Regency houses of the Brunswick estate created a wealth of work for a chimney sweep in Hove but were a world apart from the original Hove village. Although many of these grand homes have now been converted to flats the wide avenues and splendid squares give Hove a majestic air.

Hove boasts great bars, restaurants and shopping areas. The Sussex County Cricket ground hosts national and international cricket fixtures. Hove Lagoon is a popular leisure attraction offering a variety of water sports. It’s no surprise that Hove regularly features on lists of the best places to live in the UK.

So, whether you’re looking for a chimney sweep in Hove for you home in Palmeira Square, Hangleton Hove Park or Poet’s Corner, Van Dyke Sweeps is that Hove chimney sweep. Keep your chimney safe and enjoy all Hove has to offer.
